Sitting here at New Bohemia Brewery in Santa Cruz sipping on a lager (the only type of beer I really like), I struggle to figure out how to start writing about myself. My boyfriend Andrew and I just spent a relaxing couple of days in Monterey before we have to go back to reality on Monday. (Read more about our Monterey getaway here). We decided to stop at a brewery on the way home to prolong the trip just a bit longer. My best friend Nicole texted me this morning and we agreed that it’s time we stop saying, “one day, let’s create a blog” and just do it! Maybe it’s due to the freshness of the new year or simply because we are ready for a new adventure together after our business plan not working out this past year (we’ll save that story for another time). Whatever it may be, we decided that we would give this whole blogging thing a try. 🙂
So let’s just get right to it!
I’m Natalie and am 24 years old…well 25 a week from today. How did that happen?! Did anyone else think back when they were in high school, they would be married with kids and a house by the young age of 25? We can all laugh at that. But honestly, I couldn’t be more grateful for this stage of life I’m currently in, even if it’s different than what 16 year old Natalie pictured. 😉
Currently, I live in northern California, in the city of Pleasanton, about 45 minutes outside of San Francisco. This year, I’m teaching 3rd grade part-time and tutoring as I work on my master’s degree in education/reading instruction. I’ll be done in June, woohoo! I absolutely love teaching but having this break to continue my own education has been so refreshing to say the least.
When I’m not working or doing homework, I love working out at the gym, going to an occasional SoulCycle class, binging on Netflix (usually what my weekend nights consist of these days..I swear I’m not boring), cooking, eating good food, and traveling! I also enjoy reading a book once in a while (most recently: Behind Closed Doors…omg so good if you like suspense), journaling, and having girls nights with my besties. My boyfriend Andrew lives in LA for medical school so we’re doing that whole long-distance thing (it stinks!) so I visit him about once a month too. When I told Andrew that Nicole and I were starting a blog he thought it was a great idea because I apparently “like to talk” and “blogging is like talking in written form.” So there you have it, a little bit about me! Thanks for being a part of this new journey of ours!
